Arrowtown Photo Spots

Hi! For as long as I can remember I have loved taking photos. I don't have any fancy camera equipment, like big telescopic lenses or even a tripod and my camera is mostly always set on automatic. Because when I 'see' a photo, I just like to quickly snap it. Over the years I've been on a lot of hiking and photography adventures and I've 'seen' thousands of photos, some of which I'd love to share with you here :)

Arrowtown Photo Spots

Arrowtown in the Otago region in the South Island of New Zealand is a cute little town known for its gold mining history. The main street of Arrowtown with its quaint heritage buildings are a photographer's delight. I will share a few of my photos with you here but these are just a small taste for now. I intend to visit Arrowtown again soon as I definitely haven't finished exploring this beautiful area yet!

There are a few different roads driving into Arrowtown but I would recommend turning off SH6 by Lake Hayes onto the Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Rd. And then stopping by the lake for a little stroll (and photos of course).
The Arrowtown township is not very big and there's plenty of good parking so park your car, put your walking shoes on, grab your camera and explore. :)
If you're like me then you'll find photo opportunities everywhere you look!
Further down Buckingham St and across from the village green are the old miners cottages. They were built over 150 years ago. I can't even imagine surviving the cold snowy winters in these cottages back in those days!
Go for a stroll through Arrowtown's historic Chinese Settlement and learn about the Chinese goldminers during the Otago goldrush. In autumn you get the bonus of walking through the golden coloured trees.
A little bit further out of the township on Durham Street is the cemetery. Across from there is a steep little path that takes you up to Arrowtown's War Memorial. There is also a big Turkish field gun from the early 1900's.
Arrowtown has a lot of lovely walks and hikes, as well as bike trails. The Feehly Hill Track is not one of the most popular but well worth the hike up for the views. (Check out my blog post HERE)

My favourite season of the year is autumn and Otago is the best area for the beautiful golden colours. It's a photographer's paradise during autumn!
On a nice clear day I recommend driving up the Crown Range Road for the views looking back over the Arrowtown basin area. Be careful though as it is a steep zigzag road so keep your eyes on the road. There are plenty of pull over areas to stop and take lots of photos. :)

Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my photos. I'd love you to share this post and if you use my photos, all I ask is that you credit me please :)
