Aoraki Mt Cook - my favourite photos

Hi! For as long as I can remember I have loved taking photos. I don't have any fancy camera equipment, like big telescopic lenses or even a tripod and my camera is mostly always set on automatic. Because when I 'see' a photo, I just like to quickly snap it. Over the years I've been on a lot of hiking and photography adventures and I've 'seen' thousands of photos, some of which I'd love to share with you here :)

Aoraki Mt Cook, South Island, New Zealand

Some people are sea people and some are mountain people.
I am 100% a mountain person. And maybe with a side of lake but that's not the be all and end all.
As long as I can get my fix of seeing a mountain regularly then I am happy.

So in New Zealand we have one particular mountain that is the BEST mountain of all.
Aoraki Mt Cook - my happy place.
Whether I am hiking in the National Park or having a picnic on the banks of Lake Pukaki just gazing at the mountain. That is when I feel all the stresses of life take a break and give me time to breathe.

Over the years I have taken hundreds of photos of Aoraki Mt Cook. So I thought it was time I dedicated a post to share a few of my favourite photos.
Enjoy :)

LUPINS - people either love them or hate them.
But you can't deny that they are a photographer's dream and help enhance a photo!

REFLECTIONS - I am a sucker for them and can't get enough of them.
And I've been incredibly lucky to be in the right place at the right time for these shots.

THE ROAD - driving in from the state highway to the Mt Cook Village is an experience in itself.
With stunning iconic views of the mountains and if you're lucky a farmer may be herding their sheep!

LAKE PUKAKI - the lake is a stunning foreground to the mountains.
The blueness of the water takes my breath away each time I see it.

AUTUMN - my favourite season to photograph.
The golden colours of the trees are beautiful.

HIKES - there are numerous hikes in the National Park area.
My personal favourites are the Kea Point and the Hooker Hut and Hooker Valley tracks.

PHOTOS - rain, snow or shine, it's the most beautiful area to photograph.
Also great for those social media photo opportunities.

and finally....
THE SKY - from clear blue to moody grey the sky can change within minutes.
The sunrises and sunsets are a photographer's dream.

Check out my post about the Kea Point walk HERE, one of the most underrated walks in the Aoraki Mt Cook National Park (in my opinion!).
